FAQ
Why am I not receiving Slack notifications?
If Slack notifications are enabled but you're not receiving them:
- Verify Slack is connected at the organization level in Settings > Integrations
- Check your personal notification preferences are enabled
- Confirm the Slateo app is installed in your Slack workspace
- Verify you haven't muted the Slateo bot in Slack
- Check that the notification channel exists and you're a member
If issues persist, contact your organization administrator or Slateo support.
Can I receive notifications for specific queries only?
Yes. Use query subscriptions to control exactly which queries trigger notifications. Unsubscribe from queries you don't want to follow, and manually subscribe to important ones.
You can also use filters in your notification inbox to focus on specific types of activity.
How do I reduce notification noise?
To reduce notification volume:
- Adjust your email digest frequency to daily or weekly
- Enable quiet hours to batch non-urgent notifications
- Unsubscribe from queries you no longer need to follow
- Disable notification types you don't find useful
- Use notification filters to focus on what matters
Do notifications work with multiple organizations?
Yes. If you're a member of multiple Slateo organizations, notification preferences are configured separately for each organization. Switch between organizations to manage their respective notification settings.
Can I get notifications for data quality issues?
Yes. Enable data quality notifications in your notification preferences. You'll receive alerts when:
- Data freshness falls behind schedule
- Schema changes are detected
- Row counts change unexpectedly
- Query results differ significantly from historical patterns
Configure data quality monitoring in Settings > Databases for your connected data warehouses.
What happens to notifications when I'm on vacation?
Notifications accumulate in your inbox while you're away. Consider:
- Setting an out-of-office auto-responder in email
- Unsubscribing from non-critical queries temporarily
- Delegating query ownership to team members
- Enabling "Mark all as read" when you return
Slateo retains up to 500 notifications, so you won't lose important updates.
Can I customize notification sounds?
In-app notification sounds are controlled by your browser settings. Slack notification sounds are configured in your Slack preferences. Email notifications don't have sound settings.
How do I report notification bugs?
If you experience issues with notifications:
- Check your notification preferences are configured correctly
- Verify integration connections are active
- Contact support with details:
- Which notification channel is affected
- Expected vs. actual behavior
- Screenshots if applicable
- Approximate time the issue occurred
Our support team will investigate and resolve the issue.
