Slack Integration

Connect Slack so your team can mention @slateo to request help directly in chat. This guide covers installation, required permissions, and how to use the integration.

Installation

  1. Open the Slateo Admin panel.
  2. Go to IntegrationsSlack.
  3. Click Connect Slack and approve the Slateo app for your workspace.
  4. Pick the default Slack channel for integration updates.
  5. Save the integration.

Required Slack permissions

Slateo requests Slack permissions so it can read thread context and respond with updates.

How to use

Mention @slateo and give your prompt. This handles most use cases, but you can also use commands below to guide the agent.

For example, mention @slateo fix the login bug directly in a conversation, or use specific commands like @slateo [repo=slateo/warehouse] fix the ingest bug to target a repository.

Troubleshooting

@slateo does not respond

If @slateo does not respond, confirm the app is installed in the workspace. Go to your Slack workspace settings and verify the Slateo app is listed under installed apps.

Missing permissions errors

If you see missing permissions errors, reinstall the app after updating scopes. Go to the Slateo Admin panel → Integrations → Slack and click Reconnect.

Updates post to the wrong channel

If updates post to the wrong channel, confirm the default channel in Admin → Integrations → Slack. You can change the default channel at any time.

Yes, Slateo can be used in private channels. You'll need to invite the @slateo bot to the private channel first by typing /invite @slateo.

Can I use Slateo in direct messages?

Yes, you can mention @slateo in direct messages and group DMs. The bot will respond in the same thread.

How do I remove the Slack integration?

To remove the integration, go to Admin → Integrations → Slack and click Disconnect. This will remove the bot from your workspace.
